Why is B.tech in Computer Science trending

Bachelor of Technology or B.Tech Computer Science is a 4-year undergraduate programme designed for students who wish to pursue their career in the field of Computer Science as a Software Engineer or Developer in famous MNCs or IT firms.B.Tech in Computer Science is becoming one of the most sought after courses both at undergraduate and post-graduate level in India. A number of reputable universities and colleges in India offer B.Tech in Computer Science programme.

With a slew of options available in the market for B.Tech Computer Science, a career in this field has been proved lucrative and rewarding since last decade. Also, this trend is soaring owing to the rapid growth of IT and software industries in the country. If there is one field of engineering which is not going to go less-relevant or obsolete, this is it!

Students who study computer science at undergraduate level not only learn the software (language and programming etc) aspect of the computer but also acquire the know-how in operating system, programming language, data base etc. Some of the aspects of the curriculum of B.Tech Computer Science are- Quantum Mechanics and Statistical Mechanics, Data Structures, Discrete Structures, Engineering Thermodynamics, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Software Engineering, Data Base Management Systems, Theory of Computation, Principles of Programming Languages, Electrodynamics and Optics etc.

What can one do post their degree in B.Tech- Computer Science?

The future scope of B.Tech in Computer Science is immense. On completion of the 4-year duration programme, one can work in the field of embedded systems; IT; telecommunication; multimedia; computer hardware & software implementation;Network Administrators; Database Administrator; Software Tester and Developer; Web and Mobility Engineer in various IT firms and MNCs; Engineering Support Specialist; Academic Research Editor; E-Commerce Specialist; System Designer etc.

Students can choose to work in private and government sector as well. Profiles in the field of Entrepreneurship, Research and Teaching are also good options for graduates in Computer Science. In short the future scope of B.Tech has no dearth of options.

What makes you eligible forB.Tech Computer Science Degree? Do you make the cut?

If you are planning to take admission inB.Tech, it is imperative to have some basic educational eligibility/criteria, both at under-graduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) level. For admission in B.Tech at UG level, students who have passed 12thstandard from a recognised board having Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their core subjects, can apply. Some universities emphasise 60 per cent benchmark as minimum aggregate marks in the above-mentioned three subjects.

Also, the B.Tech admission relies on the entrance exams which are mostly conducted at the UG level. There are close to50 engineering entrance examsthat one can give to get into country’s most sought-after engineering colleges. JEE Main is considered to be one of the top engineering entrance exams in India. It is a national level exam for which approximately 10 lakh students appear every year. This exam is meant for admissions in top engineering colleges/universities of the country like NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. Some of the other exams that students can prepare for to get into other engineering colleges are-

JEEAdvanced, BITSAT, SRMJEEE, COMEDK, VITEEE, KIITEE, COMEDK etc.
